What should be in a workplace first aid kit?

There’s no single mandatory list, but most low-risk workplaces should start with the basics and adjust after a needs assessment.

The essentials

• A leaflet with general first aid guidance

• Individually wrapped sterile plasters in assorted sizes

• Sterile eye pads and triangular bandages

• Medium and large sterile wound dressings

• Disposable gloves and safety pins

How often to check it

Check contents monthly and after every use. Replace anything out of date, and make sure everyone knows where the kit is kept.
